RESPONSIVE DESIGN

As the pressure for the world to embrace the awareness of the need for sustainable living increases, more and more people are turning to off-grid, self-sustainable design as a resource to reduce their environmental impact and live a more conscious and cohesive lifestyle.

Innovative Energy and our openness to it as part of our off-grid design is the ability to generate your own energy that works best in the space we are designing for. The exponential growth in renewable energy with solar and wind power are essential milestones in the hope we crave. This proactive and tangible reduction of your carbon footprint, and the joy in knowing you have the freedom and flexibility to live wherever you choose, without being tied to an antiquated grid.

Integrating future forward off-grid design isn't just about energy generation, it is pressing forward with designing homes and spaces that are as efficient as possible, using 21st-century materials and techniques that are sustainable and have a minimal impact on the environment, while delighting those who experience them. This includes practical tenants like using recycled materials, incorporating passive solar design principles, and modernizing the ethos of maximizing the use of natural light, ventilation, and site-responsive design.

A quick glance at our media shows an increasing emphasis on the ability to grow and produce your own food. This can be achieved through techniques such as permaculture, which focuses on creating self-sustaining ecosystems that mimic the natural world. This not only helps to reduce your reliance on grocery stores and the industrial food system but also allows you to grow fresh, healthy produce right in your own backyard. I am particularly excited about some of the rewilding we are doing on some of our larger projects.

Forward-focused people are digging down to increase their ownership in committing and examining options for self-sufficiency, some are not practical in certain situations but active ownership of their footprint can be. The ever-increasing rewards of living a self-sustainable, off-grid lifestyle can be tremendous for one's space and psyche. Not only do you get the satisfaction of knowing that you are living in a more environmentally responsible way, but you also get the freedom and independence that comes with being able to live off the grid.
