MALEK, CAN YOU TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF?
I was born in Amman Jordan. The first place I was taken from early childhood memories was one of the seven man-built wonders of the world, the lost city of Petra it was my first time I realized what I could achieve as long as I didn’t settle on past achievement. Most of my childhood memories were spent exploring ancient ruins and growing up dreaming of what they were like and what Impact I will have on my generation through design and innovation. Reflecting back on these places I realized that reflective time provides its own luxury.
If I am awake I am creating, simply put architecture is my passion, that five year journey focused my passion on sustainability and off-grid innovation. After completing my development hours and post graduate training, I knew I didn’t want to open a status-quo practice as I yearned for creative deliverable, it has always been my ethos to ‘do something, then talk about it’, sometimes abstract synergy can feel artificial without meaningful actions. If I was to identify my inner voice, I would say it is working with the human experience and the quality of space.
WHAT IS YOUR ROLE?
As a creator, I have a strong sense of the initial idea that will shape a project, I hunt endlessly to find the perfect site, the curated concept and design, nursing the seedling idea through planning, working with my team through the development hurdles, sustaining focus, while grounding the experience with authenticity, quality and substance.
I spend my days as a designer collaborating with my design team in my offices or on-site, refining the designs of my projects through visceral processes that zero in on the ultimate experience and holistic space. I love what I do, I live the creative process, it’s not for the faint of heart, taking an idea and turning it into a physical reality.
